When innocence questions....
While yesterday could hv been like any other forgetable day for me. It has left a mark on me. Well, a BELATED MERRY X-MAS to all of u. Sorry for being late. A day before yesterday was ID-ul-FITR or EID (anyway tht siuts u). And the nxt day Santa was to mythologically visit us.
After the Christmas party, my innocent 13 year old sister (who held no prejudice towards any religion) ignited my mind wid a very simple question'WHY DID'NT WE VISIT THE MOSQUE ON EID?'. I fired back thoughtlessly saying tht it wasn't our religious festival (me being a PUNJABI), and wid the same innocence she replied tht evn Christmas wasn't. Then why the partying and Secret Santa. The question tht had been deep dug in my mind being an atheist, had re risen.
I still hope someone answers this question. As an average Indian family (non-muslim), we hv always been spending a holiday on muslim festivals whereas celebrating Christmas, Valentines day and at times evn Halloween. Nvr did it strike our mind tht muslim families hv always been a parrt of Diwali and Holi celebrations. So, it is we who keep away from their religion and festivals. But, still they respect our religious festivities and enrich them by being a part of it.
And, we brand them as 'TERRORISTS'. I do accept it and altogether hate the fact tht whenevr I hear a peculiar muslim name a feeling of suspicion arises.
So, I would like u all to answer me "WHY YOU YOU AND YOU DON"T CELEBRATE MUSLIM FESTIVALS BUT OTHER FESTIVALS THT ARE NOT A PART OF UR RELIGION". And if u hv no answer, pls start celebrating them or just celebrate ur own religions festivals. From now on I'll prefer the former option coz I myself need to find the answer.
PLS. POST UR ANSWERS IN THE COMMENTS. HELP ME ANSWER MY SISTER.
LET'S STOP THE YOUNG MINDS FROM DEVELOPING THIS BASELESS PREJUDICE.
